# Swiss Drone Map

Interactive drone map for Switzerland. Answers the question "Can I safely fly here today?" with a real-time Drone Flight Score and full BAZL flight restriction coverage.

## Drone Flight Score

The headline feature. Gives every pilot an instant 🟢 Excellent / 🟡 Flyable / 🟠 Difficult / 🔴 Unsafe rating based on:
- Wind speed at 10 m and 80 m altitude
- Wind gusts at 10 m
- Precipitation probability
- Cloud cover
- Temperature (battery health)
- Kp index (geomagnetic storm — GPS/compass reliability)

Five drone profiles with manufacturer-calibrated thresholds:
- DJI Mini (Mini 2 / 3 / 4 Pro, < 249 g, Level 5 wind)
- DJI Air (Air 2S / Air 3, ~700 g, Level 6 wind)
- DJI Mavic (Mavic 3 / Classic / Pro, ~900 g, Level 6 wind)
- FPV 5" (5-inch freestyle/racing, custom build, tighter rain limits — not waterproof)
- DJI Avata (Avata 1/2, cinewhoop ~400 g, Level 5 wind)

## Weather Panel

7-day hourly forecast (Open-Meteo) with:
- Wind at 10 m, 80 m, 120 m, 180 m, and estimated 445 m
- Temperature at all altitudes
- Cloud cover, rain probability, UV index, solar radiation
- Kp index (NOAA, refreshed every 15 min)
- Table mode and synchronized chart mode
- Click any map point to fetch weather for that location

## Flight Restriction Layers

- BAZL official restrictions: CTR, nature reserves, sensitive zones, air traffic zones
- UAS activity zones
- Local municipality drone bans (discovered via automated web crawl)
- NOTAM/DABS temporary restrictions (today and tomorrow, updated hourly)
- Aviation obstacles (Luftfahrthindernisse)
- Protection Areas Ampel layer for wildlife, forest, and nature protection context
- Verified community reports for local signs, seasonal bans, and municipal rules
- Easy Fly Zones 30 m and 150 m

## Data Updates

- BAZL aviation layers: daily at 16:30
- NOTAM/DABS: hourly
- Weather: 10-minute cache, 7-day forecast
- Kp index: every 15 minutes

## Swiss Drone Guide

Interactive step-by-step wizard that walks pilots through Swiss drone regulations from start to pre-flight. Two modes:

**Wizard mode** (~5 minutes, 11 steps):
1. Certificates — A1/A3 (UAS.gate/EASA), insurance status
2. Drone selection — searchable database of 27 popular drones (DJI, Autel, Parrot, FPV) or DIY builder
3. Classification — C0 / C1 / C2 / C3-C4 / Legacy / DIY, or Specific Category
4. Rule summary — registration, insurance, and certificate requirements for that drone
5. Subcategory tutorial — A1, A2, or A3 rules (distances, overflight restrictions)
6. FPV check — observer requirements
7. Location checks — swiss-dronemap.ch, DABS/NOTAM, CTR, nature reserves, military zones
8. Flight readiness — wind, gusts, rain, visibility, battery, RTH, daylight
9. Emergency procedures — manned aircraft priority, police compliance, fly-away behaviour
10. Knowledge quiz — 5 regulation questions (4/5 to pass)
11. Pre-flight checklist — 6 tap-to-confirm items; unlocks "FLY!" button when all green
