Community Reports

Help fellow drone pilots by reporting local restriction zones directly on the map. Every report makes Swiss Drone Map more accurate and safer for everyone.

Open Map & Report a Zone

How it works

✏️
1. Draw the zone

Open the map and click "Report drone restriction zones" at the bottom left. Draw a polygon by clicking around the restricted area, or use circle mode to set a centre point and radius. Double-click to close a polygon.

📋
2. Describe the restriction

Choose the restriction type (sign, seasonal ban, municipal ordinance, breeding area, etc.), write a short description of what you observed, and optionally add a link to the official regulation.

📸
3. Add photos

Photos of signs, notices or the restricted area are optional but strongly help our moderators verify and confirm your report faster. You can attach up to 10 images from your device.

What happens after you submit?

Your report is immediately stored and assigned a pending status. Our team reviews each submission and cross-checks it against official sources. Once confirmed, the zone is published on the Community Reports layer of the map — visible to every user and updated daily.

Municipal ban Cantonal or municipal ordinance prohibiting drone flights City centre ban, local park regulation
Breeding area Active nesting or breeding site requiring extra care Eagle nest, heron colony, ground-nesting birds
Wildlife rest zone Area where wildlife disturbance should be minimised Chamois winter feeding area, deer corridor
Ranger hint Verbal or written warning from a ranger or authority "Warden told me no drones in this valley"
Conflict A conflict or incident that occurred while flying Confrontation with landowner, wildlife disturbance

Why community data matters

Switzerland has hundreds of informal and semi-formal drone restriction zones that never appear in official BAZL databases. Nature reserves post signs but don't publish GIS data. Cantons issue seasonal restrictions that aren't centrally registered. Wardens enforce local rules that exist only in oral tradition.

The result: pilots encounter unexpected bans, disturb wildlife unintentionally, and face conflict with rangers — not out of bad intent but because the information simply isn't accessible.

Community reports bridge that gap. Every zone you draw is a data point that helps the next pilot make a better decision. Over time, this builds the most comprehensive drone restriction dataset in Switzerland — open, crowdsourced, and constantly improving.

Seeing community reports on the map

Verified community reports are shown on the map as a separate Community Reports layer. Enable it in the layer switcher (top right of the map). Each zone shows a popup with the report type, description, and trust score when clicked.
